What is an Ideal IVF diet?

When couples begin IVF treatment, food often becomes a topic of concern. Many patients ask whether there is a specific IVF diet that can improve egg quality, support the uterine lining or increase the chances of pregnancy. While there is no single food that can guarantee IVF success, eating a balanced and nutritious diet can support overall health during fertility treatment.

During IVF, I usually advise patients to focus less on superfoods and more on consistency. A balanced diet, adequate protein, good hydration and healthy weight are far more important than following restrictive diets or eating one particular food every day.

What should you eat during IVF treatment?

A fertility-friendly diet should include plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains, pulses, nuts and seeds, and good sources of protein. Foods such as dal, beans, eggs, paneer, curd, fish and lean meats can help meet protein requirements, depending on individual dietary preferences.

Healthy fats are also important. Nuts, seeds, avocado and olive oil can be included in moderate amounts. Omega-3 fatty acids from sources such as fish and certain seeds may also form part of a balanced fertility diet.
