How to cope with infertility during the Covid-19 Crisis?

Infertility is itself a big challenge and to top it covid-19 anxiety is something to which everyone is struggling. It is important to strengthen the support for women and to reduce their fear and anxiety.

We at Mother’s Lap IVF Centre are here to provide all of the support, information and attention you need as you cope with infertility during the COVID-19 crisis.

First step is to take care of your heart, mind, & spirit:

The one thing that lockdown has given us is more time during the week. No more commute, no time dedicated to going to the movies, dining out, or attending favorite public activities and events. Utilize that and nurture your heart, mind, and spirit.

How to do:

  • You can try yoga online while there is no proven link between yoga and increased fertility, a review of multiple studies has shown potential links between women who do yoga during fertility treatments cycles, reduced stress, and improved fertility rates.
  • Take time to prepare nourishing meals. Inflammation is a side-effect of endometriosis and PCOS to just about every other medical or reproductive issue. Focusing on a nourishing anti-inflammatory diet automatically can help keep inflammation at bay, which has inherent reproductive health benefits.
  • Keeping the romance alive! As any one coping with infertility can tell you, it takes a toll on romance and light hearted partnership. Use this time to rekindle romantic and intimate connections with your partner.
While COVID-19 is an unprecedented concern, fertility centers know how to use best-practices and medical protocol to keep our patients safe amidst this pandemic.

There’s no reason to put your fertility journey on pause, Do connect with Mother’s Lap IVF centre to find out how you can continue moving forward by adhering to their new policies, all of which respect shelter-in-place protocol.

These policies include:

Limiting the face-to-face interactions:
  • We will continue to offer virtual consultations and appointment with our doctors, nurses and counselors by video call or telephone.
  • We will offer a minimal-contact drop off service for sperm providers to bring their semen samples to the clinic for analysis, at an agreed time.
  • We will offer home kits for some hormone tests. We will post the kits and you take a tiny blood sample by pricking your finger, then post the sample back to the laboratory.
  • We will only ask you to come into the clinic for vital monitoring. We can reassure you that we won’t compromise your treatment by making these changes.
Your virtual consultation:
  • We are doing everything possible to give you the best start to your fertility journey during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is why our doctors are now conducting consultations via Skype or Zoom. We will also be offering face to face consultations on appointment basis.
  • During your initial consultation our consultant will share what they have learned from your medical history and test results if they are available, and talk you through your individualized treatment options. Your consultant will explain which further tests, if any, need to be done, and will also guide you through the steps of your expected treatment pathway.
  • There will probably be lots of information to take in during this appointment, but you’ll be given the details of who to contact at your clinic if you have any further questions.
Mother’s Lap IVF Centre remains absolutely dedicated to making sure all our patients are fully supported, wherever you are in your fertility journey.
