New Year New diet plan for PCOS women

PCOS, also referred to as polycystic ovarian syndrome, is a disorder that impairs your metabolism and results in hormone imbalances. According to an AIIMS study, 20.25% of Indian women who are between the ages of 15 and 44 and who are of reproductive age have PCOS. In addition, it might cause difficulties getting pregnant and increase the risk of developing major secondary health issues like diabetes, depression, cardiovascular disease, and endometrial cancer.  Male hormones are produced in greater quantities by women with PCOS. Their inability to conceive and their irregular menstrual cycles are both results of the hormonal imbalance.

Today, in this blog, let’s talk about the food that helps you in combating PCOS. Make a New Year’s resolution to fight PCOS with a good diet. Your diet is like a bank account. Good food choices are good investments.  Let’s see below some good diets that you can opt:

  • Foods high in fibre

Fibre helps you lose weight, feels better for you, and keeps you full. Barley, muesli, beans, nuts, and fruits are good sources. Other vegetables with high fibre content include sweet potatoes, pumpkin, beans, cauliflower, and broccoli.

  • Veggies with green leaves

These are especially advised for women who are having trouble losing weight. Iron, potassium, calcium, and vitamins K, C, E, and B are abundant in them.

  • Anti-inflammatory foods and seasonings

An anti-inflammatory diet rich in vegetables, whole fruit,

whole grains, and legumes provides an abundance of probiotics, fibre, antioxidants, and omega-3 fatty acids. Other ingredients that work well include tomatoes, spinach, almond and walnut oil, turmeric, and cinnamon.

  • Fruits
Despite their high fructose level, some people may be hesitant to eat them because they also include fibre, several minerals, and polynutrients. Eat low-glycemic fruits such as watermelons, guavas, apples, pears, strawberries, blueberries, and kiwis.

  • Nutritious fats

Most individuals don't seem to associate the word "fat" with PCOS, although eating good fats is necessary to obtain critical fatty acids. It has almonds, avocado, seeds, and olive oil.

  • GI diet, or low glycemic index diet

The GI gauges the rate at which meal elevates blood sugar. Thus, a low-GI diet gradually raises blood sugar levels, preventing insulin surges. Eating whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats is the foundation of the low-GI diet. Furthermore, numerous research and surveys have provided clinical evidence supporting the benefits of following a low GI diet.

Steer clear of the following:

  • Sugar and related foods and beverages, such soda or juice.
  • Foods heavy in refined carbs, such muffins and white bread
  • Steer clear of dairy items if you consume a lot of them because they tend to raise testosterone levels.
  • Overall, caffeine affects women's fertility
  • Anything prepared with white flour; • Starchy veggies, such as peas, corn and potatoes;
  • Sugary dishes like cakes, candies, and cookies.
  • Steer clear of packaged, processed, junk, and quick food.

Following are some Pro-Tips:

  • Eat a lot of fluids and low-calorie snacks (fruits, sprouts, and chana) throughout the day. • By making breakfast the largest meal and dinner the smallest, one can counteract the hormone imbalance associated with PCOS.
  • Cutting back on carbohydrates may help women with PCOS lose weight and address the hormonal imbalance associated with the condition.
  • Avoid excessive tension: Thus, make an effort to remain calm and follow the food or medicine schedule.

For PCOS, there is no surefire treatment or cure. However, adopting a healthy lifestyle that revolves around regular exercise and a better diet can greatly aid in your battle against the disorder.
