There is all of a sudden so much craze about IVF and Surrogacy in the celebrities. As a matter of fact it may be a new trend in Bollywood, but it has been prevailing from a long time in Hollywood and the other countries.
These days awareness about surrogacy is increasing. People who would have never thought that they would be able to become proud parents are finally getting chance to be.
We all knows that India is a led by country, people here do not think of its own they do things and believes things which is happening in and around them. As an Infertility specialist, in this matter I believe that it is a positive step taken by celebrities by far. When celebrities like Tusshar Kapoor or Shahrukh Khan opts for surrogacy and talks about such a medical procedure openly, it helps remove taboos associated with it. Common people do look up to celebrities be it their dressing sense, or any other thing, they simple love to do what they do. So, now mentality is more like if Tusshar Kapoor or Shahrukh Khan can have their babies via surrogacy why can’t we.
What is IVF Surrogacy..?
Surrogacy is now a well explored and accepted form of starting a family that people are turning to. Derived from the Latin word surrogates
referring to substitution, the word simply means a biological or non biological mother carrying the child of another woman for full nine months.
Surrogacy is advised to those who have either no or a malformed uterus, uterus damaged due to infection/ tumor, and where the uterus is removed for some clinical process. Surrogacy is also for those couples intending to be parents but where the woman is having repeated miscarriages.
In IVF surrogacy or gestational surrogacy a pregnancy is created by the egg and sperm of the parent couple. The surrogate is just a carrier and is not genetically related to the child. While the procedure costs Rs. 11 lakhs upwards, a surrogate earns Rs. 3-4 lakh and is paid Rs. 7-8,000 per month during the pregnancy.
Surrogacy is a legal deal between a couple and an individual and a third party to carry their baby to term. There may be many reasons why couples opt for surrogacy; it may be a missing uterus, multiple pregnancy losses, or failed in vitro fertilization attempts. So, now the couple can have their own biological baby by hiring a surrogate.
The arrangement can be made between relatives or someone known by the patient or an agency. When searching for a surrogate, a couple might use the Internet, contact an agency, or network through friends and family.
At Mother’s Lap IVF Centre when it comes to providing legal aid, there is an independent lawyer that we recommend to parents as he is very experienced with these matters but couples are free to decide who they choose.
The success ratio of the surrogacy in India, the miscarriage rate is 15 % however 55% - carry back their baby. In case of 4 embryos, success rate is 8/10 as females are fertile here. This is indeed a very safe ratio to rely on.
Summing it up, we can say that Surrogacy overall has definitely proven to be one Godsend means for many who while undergoing a complication thought that starting a family is just a distant dream. With modern amenities, well trained staff on hand and overall healthy surrogates, India sure has become a hum of surrogate pregnancy.
If you are looking for simple pleasures of being a parent, if you are prepared to accept this lifelong responsibility, then this would be enthralled to know that your dream is just a surrogate away.
