Tips for breastfeeding After IVF

Breastfeeding is a natural process and it comes to mothers naturally. In many cases after delivery the mother’s body undergoes a lot of changes that makes breastfeeding little difficult especially if you had cesarean delivery. But this not at all means that you should give up on breastfeeding. Stress, hormonal imbalances and fatigue are very normal for a new mother and some mothers even face post partum depression that can interfere with breast milk production.
1. Address stress from your life – First of all stop feeling too much stressed. Though it is very normal to feel stressed out after delivery especially if it’s your first baby. But stress at this time could hamper breastfeeding. Remember, a stressful mother will often find it difficult to lactate or even help the baby latch on correctly. Practice deep breathing or take bath in your tub feel the water and try to do everything that keeps you calm and relaxed.

Can unexplained infertility be treated?

Unexplained infertility is when you and your partner can’t conceive but doctors can’t find any specific cause. Around one in four couples who are having difficulty getting pregnant have unexplained infertility.

Assisted conception may help you get pregnant. These procedures control how your sperm and egg are brought together so that you’re more likely to conceive.

If you have unexplained infertility, your doctor may suggest that you try in vitro fertilisation (IVF). IVF involves removing one or more eggs and mixing them with sperm in a laboratory. Once the eggs are fertilised, the embryos (fertilised eggs) are placed in the woman’s uterus. Before you’re offered IVF, you’ll need to have been trying to get pregnant for at least two years.

Ask your doctor about all of the treatment options available to you and what are treatment methods to go for when the cause is identified?

Once a cause is identified, a specific care plan can be developed. This may include

Tips to boost fertility

There are some things you can do to help you to conceive naturally. If you see your fertility
expert because you’re having trouble getting pregnant, they’ll usually talk you through these first.
1. Sticking to a healthy lifestyle may improve your chances of getting pregnant and having a healthy baby. So, quit smoking or at least cut down, and check your alcohol intake too. Both men and women shouldn’t drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis. And if you’re trying for a baby (as well as if you get pregnant), then it’s best for women not to drink alcohol at all. Maintaining a healthy weight may also help, because being either overweight or underweight can affect your fertility

2. Eating a balanced and varied diet should help you get all the nutrients your body needs. But women who are planning a pregnancy should take folic acid and vitamin D supplements. Speak to your pharmacist about which supplements you can take safely before and during pregnancy.

3. Having sex every two to three days will help to make sure you’re having sex around the time of ovulation (a woman’s most fertile time of the month). This will maximise your chances of conceiving. If you use lubricants, be aware that some of

Mother's Lap IVF Centre in Delhi for Best Fertility Solution: Don't feel hopeless

Infertility is clinically defined as not able to get pregnant after one year of having regular
sexual intercourse without the usage of birth control measures. On the other hand men are considered as infertile when they’ve been trying to make their wives conceive for one year with no success. So, basically there are plenty of people out there in the world struggling with this label of being infertile. Infertile doesn't mean that you're out of options. Today, we are living in the field of technology and there is a solution to most world problems. Today, IVF which is known as In vitreo fertilization is the hope to help women who are childless. There are a few factors that can contribute to female infertility like advanced maternal age, defined as having a pregnancy at the age of 35 or over, as you get older, your fertility gradually declines, which is why women who fall into this group may take longer to get pregnant and other conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, having damaged or blocked fallopian tubes that can’t be treated with surgery, and premature ovarian failure (a loss of normal ovarian function before age 40) may also make it harder to get pregnant without reproductive assistance; a cancer diagnosis or an abnormally-shaped uterus may make fertility complicated as well. There’s also something known as “unexplained infertility” which is exactly what it sounds like you have trouble getting pregnant and doctors don’t know why. It’s also important to keep in mind that it's not always your uterus that's the issue. Many a times your partner is responsible too.

Male infertility is the issue in 20 percent of cases of infertile couples. So it’s important for your partner also to be involved in the process and to undergo testing, too. A semen analysis can tell doctors about sperm motility, shape, and concentration, all of which can play a role in fertility. Some infertile women will get pregnant without reproductive assistance, while others may need help. Some women may get pregnant after identifying and addressing whatever problem was getting in the way, while others may need to undergo rounds of a fertility drug to stimulate ovulation. There are also options like intrauterine insemination (IUI), which involves placing sperm inside your uterus when you’re fertile, or in vitro fertilization (IVF), which involves retrieving eggs and fertilizing them with sperm in a lab, then implanting those embryos in your uterus.

When should I consult fertility specialist?

Getting pregnant or difficulty in conceiving is a common problem for couples in India now-a-days. Usually fertility in young couples in their 20s and early 30s are at peak and gradually starts declining once anyone crosses 30 years of age. You may not get pregnant in the very first attempt; however even after trying naturally for 1 year if you are unable to conceive, then it is a matter of concern.

As an infertility specialist, over the years, I have seen more and more couples open up about their fertility problems. They are proactively seeking expert help about their reproductive health. It’s no longer a topic behind closed doors. We at Mother’s Lap IVF Centre, helps you to open frankly about your fertility problems, discuss concerns and seek the best medical solution for all your infertility problems. In this blog, I shall discuss on some guidelines that will help you decide when you should consult a fertility specialist.

Firstly the Age Factor:

If you are above 35 years old and have been trying to conceive naturally and failing for 6 months or more, visit a fertility specialist immediately. Women over the age of 35 years have a lesser chance of pregnancy even through assisted reproductive techniques, because the eggs may not be of the best quality at a later age. With age, other complications can also arise leading to a depleted ovarian reserve.

Secondly the Health Factor:

There are several health conditions that have adverse effects on the fertility potential of women. Thyroid disorder in women can lead to hormonal imbalances. Women who suffer from thyroid diseases are known to be affected with conditions like infertility, miscarriages, abnormalities in foetal brain development, etc. However, if the thyroid disorder is identified and the patient takes medication, then the woman can conceive through fertility treatment. During the treatment procedure, it is advised that you consult your fertility specialist regularly.

Women suffering from PCOS or endometriosis are advised to consult the fertility specialist when they decide to get pregnant. Endometriosis leads to an

The best infertility treatments at Mother's Lap IVF Centre

Many thanks to the advanced technology today infertility treatments are like God stepping
in the life for the all the couples who are unable to become parents on their own. All infertility treatments involve bringing the husband’s sperm and the wife’s egg together. This can take place in a woman’s womb or in a laboratory, and there are differing levels of complexity, care and techniques needed.
Let’s see below a short introduction to the 3 most common infertility treatments:

Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
IUI is usually the first line of treatment in most infertility cases. In this treatment, the wife is given hormones to help her ovulate (discharge mature eggs from the ovaries) at the right time, while the husband’s semen is collected, washed (motile sperms separated from the seminal fluid) and the sperms are then introduced into the wife’s uterus using a special sterile tube.

In IVF, after hormone treatment and an ultrasound to check ovulation, the woman’s egg is picked up and allowed to mingle with her husband’s sperms in a glass dish in the lab, and

Tips to overcome infertility

Many people in India are struggling from infertility and they all have different stories to tell about their infertility journey. Today, the lifestyle plays a pivotal role in your fertility; let’s see below some tips to overcome infertility permanently:

Let’s start with outing; don’t sit - go out and walk:
Walking is an ideal pre-conception exercise. It is a great cardiovascular exercise especially if you step to a reasonable pace and it also helps to tone your legs, back and tummy. All these are very important in treating infertility as being fit is the most integral part of your conception plan. So, go for a regular walk in the morning and evening.

Sugar is the biggest enemy:
Every time you eat foods that are high in sugar, your pancreas produce insulin to convert the sugar in your blood into energy.  And if this is repeated frequently, you may develop insulin resistance which results in diabetes. High levels of insulin slowdowns the ovulation process and causes PCOS, which further contribute to infertility issues.

Can I Travel While I'm Undergoing IVF?

Many questions keep pondering us during IVF treatment. One of them would be should I
travel when my IVF treatment is going on…? Many couples ask me, if they can take vacations and travel before, after, or during treatment. Actually, IVF medications and procedures can interfere dramatically with your day-to-day life. In all honesty, the bottom line is better safe than sorry.

You should know that there are some medical facts which keep coming on your way of getting pregnant. It is estimated that globally around 60 to 80 million couples suffer from infertility annually, of which probably between 15 to 20 million are in India alone according to an ICMR Bulletin. When everything else fails and you think that the in vitro fertilization or IVF may be the only option for you to opt, but before considering anything know some facts that can hinder your chances of conception:

Decline in the number of healthy eggs:
You are born with a fixed number of eggs. But the number gets declines as you age and so does the health of those eggs. According to The American Society of Reproductive Medicine, even a healthy and fertile 30-year-old woman’s chances of getting pregnant reduce by 20% with each passing month.  The ugly truth is that consumption of fertility drugs, without any consultation with an expert, further decreases the numbers and aren’t of much help. In case you want to delay pregnancy and want to keep your eggs in good health till conception, you should probably try freezing your eggs for future use.
